2 Chainz is the man right now. He’s doing exactly what his song Spend It says, “I’m ridin' 'round and I’m getting it.” After grinding for so long after his Playa Circle days, he is finally getting the spotlight that he has been longing for. People are lining up to do features with Tity Boi (his former stage name). He’s done Beez In The Trap with Nicki Minaj, Superfreak with Young Jeezy, and many more; including the G.O.O.D. Music collaboration single Mercy with Pusha T, Kanye West, and Big Sean which has the streets going bananas. I’ve been a long time Kanye fan, long enough to know that he doesn’t just make songs with anybody. When Kanye asks for your services, he must think highly of you and has to be a fan of your work. This feature on Mercy from 2 Chainz had me doing a lot of thinking about his affiliation with Kanye West and that maybe it could be more than a mentor situation as 2 Chainz has mentioned in interviews.
After being released on good terms by Ludacris and the Disturbing Tha Peace label, everybody was waiting in line to pitch a deal to 2 Chainz. He ultimately signed with Def Jam in a multi-million dollar deal early this year. Tit has also been on the cover of the The Source Magazine with Mac Miller and Tyga. During the highly anticipated SXSW Music Festival, 2 Chainz had a set where he brought out Big Sean and Kanye West to perform. Earlier this week, he also made an appearance on 106 & Park to permeire his video for Riot and Kanye West made a silent appearance on stage during 2 Chainz’ interview. Then Tit had an interview with Angie Martinez on the Hot 97 radio station in New York City. Angie asked the question that I’ve also been wondering… "Is 2 Chainz a part of G.O.O.D. Music?" He replied with, “It’s some things we’re working out, basically. It’s pretty cool.” So don’t be surprised if 2 Chainz' debut album release in August called Based on a TRU Story has the G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam tags and backing on it. If so, he’ll be joining the newest member announced this week Q-Tip. G.O.O.D. Music might become an army, watch out!
