Who is Kendrick Lamar? Is he the next Tupac, the next West Coast Savior? What's all the hype about? Let me answer those questions for you. Kendrick Lamar is simply a good kid from a mAAd city. No, he's not Tupac, he's just Kendrick and won't save only the West but the entire hip-hop community, and that's the reason everyone is behind him. And last but not least, the hype is REAL. This week marked the week of Kendrick Lamar when it comes to album releases, and even though Taylor Swift outsold him this week, everyone will leave talking about Kendrick. His major label debut album "good kid, mAAd city" was released under his beginning and indie label TDE, with the major label support of Aftermath and Interscope Records. He sold close to 250,000 copies even with an early leak of the album according to Hits Daily Double, which rarely ever happens for an up and coming underground artist. Artists, producers, bloggers, and fans have all supported Kendrick. Pharrell compared him to Bob Dylan, J.Cole refused to drop any new music until the world received Kendrick's album, and so many more great comments and support from industry taste makers have called this album a "classic" and a "must-have". On Wednesday, October 31, 2012 when the Billboard charts were released, Kendrick might not have had the number one spot, but he definitely put his stamp on the music industry as an artist who managed to sell records and remain himself.
